Editorial: AboriginalLB Welcomes Lyn Dennerstein

I am delighted to be associated with the Aboriginal Law Bulletin. Its main purpose as I perceive it, is to act as a source and transmitter of information on issues of national and international relevance to Aborigines. In so doing, the AboriginalLB has an important supportive role to play in the struggle of the Aboriginal people.

Although Law features in my background, my more recent employment experiences lie in the field of Social Work. In my last position as Drug & Alcohol Counsellor at Long Bay Gaol I came face-to-face with some of the problems confronting Aborigines in custody. While recognising the primacy of legal issues in the AboriginalLB. I intend to counterbalance them with a focus on issues of social concern.

I would like to encourage readers to keep sending in articles, judgements, information and photographs, etc in particular, I would like to invite more Aboriginal people to contribute to this magazine.

Special thanks to Julie Green for her invaluable assistance, and to Garth, Bernadette, Yundy, Alastair and the people of Kelly's Graphics and Aldine Press for their kind and patient guidance through my first issue.
