I would like to thank the Board of Trustees of Bard College for sponsor-
ing the Levy Economics Institute's ongoing research project on the
Reconstitution of the Financial Structure conceived by my late colleague
Hyman P. Minsky in 1990. As part of this project, many distinguished
scholars, policymakers and business leaders visit the Institute and partici-
pate in seminars and conferences aimed at finding policy options to press-
ing economic problems. I want to thank most sincerely Esther Minsky,
Diana Minsky and Alan Minsky for sharing many precious moments of
their life with Hy. We all miss him terribly. Finally I am indebted to my
assistant Deborah C. Treadway, for her skill, loyalty and devotion, without
which this book would not have been possible.
