Acknowledgments

This volume would not have been possible without the extraordinary efforts of
Professor Nicholas Robinson in conceptualizing the IUCN Academy of
Environmental Law during his tenure as Chair of the IUCN Commission on
Environmental Law. We also gratefully acknowledge the leadership of Professor
Jamie Benidickson and Professor Ben Boer, University of Ottawa Faculty of
Law, establishing it as a formal legal entity and in building it as an institution.
We are grateful for the support that Sheila Abed, Chair of the IUCN Commission
on Environmental Law and Alejandro Iza, Head of the IUCN Environmental Law
Programme and Director of the IUCN Environmental Law Center have provided
the Academy.
