Kai Ambos is Professor and Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Comparative Law
and International Criminal Law at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany. Head
of the Department of `Foreign and International Criminal Law,' Institute of Criminal Law and
Justice at the University of Göttingen. Judge at the Provincial Court (Landgericht) of Lower
Saxony in Göttingen. Former Dean of Students of the Faculty of Law at the University of
Göttingen (April 2008­2010). Former senior research fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for
Foreign and International Criminal Law, Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, in charge of the
sections `International Criminal Law' and `Spanish-speaking Latin America' (1991­2003).
Member of the German Delegation to the Diplomatic Conference on the Establishment of an
International Criminal Court (Rome, 15 June­17 July, 1998). Member of the expert working
group established by the Federal Ministry of Justice for the elaboration of the German
`International Criminal Law Act,' implementing the Rome Statute for an ICC. Referee of the
European Research Council in peer review evaluations (appointment from 13 October 2010­
31 December 2013).

Kelly D. Askin, BS, JD, PhD (law) is senior legal officer for the International Justice
Program of the Open Society Justice Initiative. She was also 2004-2005 Fulbright New
Century Scholar on the Global Empowerment of Women. Since 1995, Askin has taught and
served as a visiting scholar at Notre Dame, Washington College of Law, Harvard, Yale and
