Acknowledgements
This book is one of the outputs of a project which received a Small
Research Grant from the British Academy, for which I am most grateful.
I must also thank Prof. Bill Cornish for supporting the application; all
those who attended project meetings (virtually or in person); Prof. Alan
Boyle for agreeing very kindly to write the Foreword; Vanessa King,
Anna Davies, Navraj Ghaleigh, Andy Kerr and Niamh Nic Shuibhne for
their inspiration and support from the very start of my thoughts; the
opportunity to develop and discuss ideas through the Chevening Fellow-
ship Programme held at the Business School of the University of
Edinburgh, through my visit as an Econoving Global Fellow of the
Universud-Paris and attending the Renewable Energy Cream Tea of the
Licensing Executive Society; Katie Fitzgerald and Robbie Hay for their
invaluable (and in Robbie's case, longstanding) research assistance which
was kindly funded by the School of Law of the University of Edinburgh;
Nick Dyson and Alison Stirling for web support and guidance; and above
all (and on behalf of all who attended project meetings) Lorna Gallacher.
Finally, many thanks to Ben Booth, John-Paul McDonald, Laura Seward
and Elizabeth Clack of Edward Elgar and Elizabeth Davison, copy editor.
