Contributors
May Fong Cheong is Professorial Visiting Fellow at the Faculty of Law,
University of New South Wales. She was formerly Professor and Dean of
the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
She was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1986 and practiced for nearly
three years before joining academia. Dr Cheong obtained her Bachelor of
Laws from the University of Malaya, a postgraduate Diploma in Shariah
Law and Practice from the International Islamic University Malaysia,
Master of Laws from the National University of Singapore and Doctor
of Philosophy from the University of Sydney. Her areas of specialization
are contract law and competition law. In the area of contract law, she
completed her PhD thesis on unfair contracts and has published three
books and various articles, focusing particularly on the legal position
in Malaysia. In the area of competition law, she has written on the
Malaysian Competition Act 2010 as well as on the electricity, water
services and telecommunications industries in Malaysia. Dr Cheong's
current research interests are on Malaysian and Australian contract law
and Asian competition and consumer law.
Allan Fels AO is Dean of the Australia and New Zealand School
of Government (ANZSOG). He was Chairman of the Australian
Competition and Consumer Commission (1995 to 2003), the Trade
Practices Commission (1991 to 1995) and the Prices Surveillance Authority
(1989 to 1992). He was co-chair of the OECD Trade and Competition
