This book is the outcome of a larger comparative law research project
financed by the Academy of Finland `Legal Transplant For Innovation
and Creativity A Sino-Finnish Comparative Study on the Governance
of Intellectual Property Rights' (TranSIP), which aims to fill the gaps in
research on IP law governance and enforcement in China and Europe.
The research project has collaborated with two leading Chinese research
institutions, the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social
Sciences (CASS) and Shenzhen University. We are grateful for financial
support from the Academy of Finland and the Chinese Academy of Social
Sciences. The editors of this book thank Chelsea Foxwell for allowing
us to publish Benjamin Pi-Wei Liu's chapter. Benjamin, who passed
away on 1 December 2014, was a much valued member of the extended
research group, whose participation in the research project conferences
enlivened the discussion greatly. We will miss him and his work. The
editors also thank Daniel Jongsma, Kenneth O'Connor and Dr Dhanay
Cadillo Chandler. The book could not have been completed without their
excellent assistance.
