Section Title: The SOLVIT network and the effective enforcement of EU law: what is new?
Author(s): Lottini, Micaela
Number of pages: 22
Abstract/Description:
This chapter explores the SOLVIT network and the role it plays in relation to the European integration process by fostering the enforcement of EU law at several different levels: at an individual level by providing citizens and businesses with an effective and adequate alternative to legal action when EU rules are misapplied by national authorities; at an administrative level by promoting a better application of EU law by the same national authorities, and at a regulatory level, by promoting amendments to the national regulatory framework in accordance with EU law. Despite SOLVIT’s success, problems remain. To this end, the chapter considers the solutions put forward by the Commission in a 2013 Recommendation to remedy some of the shortcomings that have been identified.
