The contributions in this book were originally presented at the confer-
ence `National Courts vis-à-vis EU Law' organized under the auspices of
the EUDO project (http://www.eui.eu/Projects/EUDO/Home.aspx) and
the EUI Centre for Judicial Cooperation (http://www.eui.eu/Projects/
CentreForJudicialCooperation/Home.aspx). The conference was con-
vened by the editors of this book and took place on 29 and 30 November
2012 at the European University Institute, Florence.
We would like to thank all the scholars who participated in the con-
ference and contributed to this book. Furthermore, we would like to
