Acknowledgements
The contributions in this book are for the most part the proceedings of a
conference of the same title held in Rome in May 2014. I would like to
express my deep gratitude to La Sapienza University of Rome, for its
generous financial support of the conference, and to the participants in
the conference for their contributions, both formal and informal, which
have enriched this publication. I feel profoundly obliged to Anne van
Aaken for her valuable suggestions regarding the organization of the
conference and the structure of the book resulting from its proceedings.
Both the conference and the book would not have seen light without her
