The editors wish to thank all the contributors to this volume as well as
the two UN Special Rapporteurs in the field of cultural rights, Farida
Shaheed and Karima E. Benounne and the people from the Special
Procedures Division of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for
Human Rights in Geneva, Dragana Korljan, Mylène Bidault, and Johanne
Bouchard.
The editors furthermore wish to thank the Danish Velux Foundation
who funded Helle Porsdam's project, `The Past's Present: Digital Trans-
formations and Cultural Heritage Institutions' (pf.ku.dk). Members of this
collaborative project met in Copenhagen in November 2015 at the Royal
Library and the National Museum, two of the external partners for
Porsdam's project, to plan this volume. It was the former, and now sadly
deceased, Director of the Royal Library, Erland Kolding Nielsen, who
helped us organize a dinner on November 13, 2015 at the Royal Library'
wonderful restaurant `Søren K', named after Søren Kierkegaard. And it
was during this dinner that Danish composer and conductor Bo Holten
had members of his vocal ensemble `Musica Ficta' perform various songs
by the famous Danish composer Carl Nielsen in order then to ask all
conference participants to come and join him at the piano. Once we were
standing around his piano, Holten managed to make us all join in a circle
canon or round, focusing on the old song known in French as `Frère
Jacques, Frère Jacques.' No one present that evening ...
