Abstract/Description:
This chapter begins in section 14.2 with an overview of the history of women’s marital nationality laws. In section 14.3 it considers the impact of these laws on women’s lives, followed in section 14.4 by a discussion of the campaign for their repeal. Section 14.5 contains a brief account of the international community’s response. Section 14.6 reflects on women’s nationality/citizenship today, explaining the ways in which women have still not achieved full equality, despite the (almost) worldwide acceptance of the principle of equal and independent nationality.
