Dr. habil. iur. Juris Bojars was a professor at the University of Latvia (until retiring in 2017);
academician; full member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences; international expert at the
University of Latvia in the field of International Law (since 2005); member of the Doctoral
Committee of the Law Faculty of the University of Latvia (since 2006); member of the Senate
of the University of Latvia; member of the Council of the Faculty of Economics and
_
Management of the University of Latvia. Professor Bojars was director of the International
Relations Institute at the University of Latvia (1989­2007); chairman of the Latvian Social
Democratic Worker's Party (1992­2002; 2005­06); Deputy of the Supreme Council of Latvia
_
(1990­93). Professor Bojars was awarded with the Three Star Order (Republic of Latvia, 2000).
He is the first author in Latvia to publish monographs on Public International Law and Private
_
International Law. Professor Bojars has more than 450 publications.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Kadner Graziano is Professor of Law at the University of Geneva and
visiting professor at KU Leuven. He holds a doctoral degree from Goethe-University Frankfurt,
an LL.M degree from Harvard Law School, and a professorial degree from Humboldt-
University Berlin. He was a faculty member of the DUKE-Geneva Institute in Transnational
Law and has held visiting professorships, teaching comparative law at the Universities of
Potsdam, Poitiers, Florida, Exeter, Kaunas, Vilnius, Lausanne, KU Leuven, Renmin (People's)
