Acknowledgements
First of all, we wish to thank our stellar group of distinguished contributors. Each of them
has given up much time to make their contributions, and we are truly grateful to them. We
consider ourselves very fortunate in having attracted such a high calibre and diverse group of
scholars, which include academics, practitioners and current and former regulators. They have
supported this project throughout the years with our same enthusiasm and have been a source
of encouragement many times.
We are also privileged to have Andrew Bailey (who has made a big personal contribution to
this subject) writing the foreword to this book.
We would like to thank our colleagues at the Institute for Regulation and Ethics of the
Centre for Commercial Law Studies for the lively discussions and for all the assistance pro-
vided in organising the meetings that preceded this publication. We are also thankful to our
students, especially those in the module on `Law and Ethics in Finance' for their stimulating
intellectual challenges throughout the years. Last but not least, we are greatly indebted to our
publisher, Edward Elgar Publishing Ltd, for including the book in their successful Research
Handbook series and particularly to Laura Mann, Iram Satti, Catherine Cumming and
Stephanie Tytherleigh for their patience, enthusiasm and support for the project. We would
also like to thank Clara Barbiani for valuable editorial assistance and Alvaro Castro Lora for
his contribution.
