Abstract/Description:
This chapter provides an overview of the historical development of policies and laws pertaining to the Norwegian oil and gas sector. Further, it focuses on certain key features of these policies and laws, such as state participation, development of local content, government take and investment protection and incentives, which may help to explain the success of the Norwegian model. As such, the chapter may serve as a source of inspiration for petroleum producing countries seeking to establish or further develop their own domestic petroleum policy and legislation.
