Author biography
Stephen J. Lubben holds an endowed chair in Corporate Govern-
ance at Seton Hall University, School of Law, in Newark, New
Jersey, and from 2010 to 2017 he was the "In Debt" columnist for
the New York Times' Dealbook business page. He is the author of a
leading Corporate Finance legal textbook, the second edition of
which was published in 2017, and the recently published The Law
of Failure: A Tour Through the Wilds of American Business
Insolvency. He has been widely quoted by courts and the media on
American chapter 11 cases, and has been retained as an expert in
insolvency cases around the world. He previously practiced law
with the New York and Los Angeles offices of Skadden, Arps,
Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, as a member of the corporate
restructuring department.
