Chapter 15 provides for the commencement of a bankruptcy case in this country that is ancillary or complementary to an insolvency proceeding pending in some other country. The chapter 15 case will support the foreign case and will not be a “full” bankruptcy case like a chapter 7 liquidation or a chapter 11 reorganization. The chapter is based on the Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency prepared by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
