Acknowledgements This book is the culmination of a research sabbatical that I undertook in 2015, during which time the concept for this collection was born. One of the objectives of the research leave was to bring together experts in intellectual property (IP) and 3D printing from the United Kingdom, United States of America and Australia. I am grateful for having had the opportunity to collaborate with a number of academics, practitioners and policy makers from these jurisdictions during this time. I am very thankful to Bournemouth University for funding my research leave, leading to the development of this book, as well as for the support extended during the process. I am deeply grateful to Professor Mark Lemley of Stanford University and Professor Matthew Rimmer of Queensland University of Technology for coming on board this project and for seeing this book to its completion. My appreciation and thanks to my PhD student and Research Assistant, Dukki Hong, for his assistance, particularly in the final stages of this collection and to Professor Dianne Nicol and Dr Jane Nielsen of the University of Tasmania for supporting my research leave in Australia.
