Section Title: Global abolition of capital punishment: contributors, challenges and conundrums
Author(s): Steiker, Carol S.; Steiker, Jordan M.
Number of pages: 24
Abstract/Description:
This chapter seeks to illuminate the future of capital punishment by exploring some of the most significant commonalities among the countries that have already abolished it as well as some the most significant challenges to abolition that exist across many retentionist jurisdictions. The authors raise a variety of qualifications and questions about the contributors and challenges to global abolition that they identify. These taxonomies and reflections will allow readers to draw their own conclusions about the likely speed and trajectory of the movement toward global abolition of capital punishment.
