Abstract/Description:

This chapter provides commentary on art. 26 of the CRC on the right to social security. This chapter explains the difference between social security and an adequate standard of living and clarifies the particularity of the right of a child to benefit from social security. It looks into the progressive realisation of the right and its core obligations, and highlights the added value of the provision.
