In Chapter 2 of the Field Guide, readers find an overview of international data transfer restrictions and detailed information on applicable requirements and compliance options compared. Companies have to overcome three hurdles before they can transfer personal data outside the European Economic Area. Companies face different advantages and disadvantages in compliance options, including consent, contracts with data subjects, Standard Contractual Clauses, Binding Corporate Rules and EU-U.S. Privacy Shield. Tasks and steps to implement the available options are described and compared also. Readers also find an overview and practical suggestions on how to address restrictions on international data transfers in other jurisdictions, which tend to be less stringent.
