Resources


Everyone has their own research methods and preferences. In the fol-
lowing list of resources, I am providing suggestions that I believe will
supplement this Field Guide well, but the list is not intended to be
anywhere close to complete or constitute a review, ranking or evalu-
ation of resources included or excluded.

On the World Wide Web, government agencies, law firms, Wikipedia,
media companies and individuals publish alerts and updates. As a start-
ing point for initial orientation on a particular topic, I usually enter a
buzz word or short phrase into a general Internet search engine.

Opinions by Data Protection Authorities in the EEA: Fairly comprehen-
sive guidance is available from individual data protection authorities as
well as the European Data Protection Board established by the GDPR.
These documents are available in English, free of charge, on web pages
of the European Union. They are not legally binding on companies or
courts, and may not always reflect the views of all national authorities,
however, national data protection authorities are likely to consider and
follow the opinions of the European Data Protection Board when they
issue binding decisions.

U.S. Federal Trade Commission Guidelines and Cases: These are
available in English, free of charge at the FTC's home page, at www.
FederalTradeCommission.gov. The site has limited search functionality,
but you can enter search terms plus `FederalTradeCommission.gov' into
