Acknowledgements
While conducting my study, I had the privilege of being surrounded by a mar-
vellous network of people. I therefore wish to thank a number of professors,
colleagues, friends and family who supported me throughout this research
project. My gratitude goes to Professor Kathryn McMahon who sparked my
interest in digital platforms. This study would not exist without her encourag-
ing support, and numerous, often highly detailed comments on the content of
the book, as well as further versions of the monograph. I would also like to
express my gratitude to Professor Petri Kuoppamäki for long discussions on
my research and for support throughout the project, as well as to Professors
Björn Lundvist from the Stockholm University and Christian Bergqvist from
the University of Copenhagen for their irreplaceable and valuable comments.
I wish to separately thank Professor Kimmo Nuotio and Professor Katri Havu
for their advice and support and as well as other kind and generous professors,
administrative staff and department colleagues from the University of Helsinki
for their general support and encouragement.
I would also like to thank Doctor Jennifer Rowland for checking the lan-
guage of the text and Kalle Markkanen from the Legal Tech Lab for his irre-
placeable help with editing the book. Thank you also Ben Booth and Amber
Watts from Edward Elgar for enabling me to publish this book.
This book also owes its shape to Professor Giorgio Monti from the
European University Institute, Professor Hans Henrik Lidgard from Lund
University, ...
