Section Title: Intersection between digital markets and competition law: problems and practical solutions

Number of pages: 23

Abstract/Description:

This chapter evaluates the intersection between digital markets and competition law by pointing out particular problems and offering practical solutions. These include, among others, the need to refocus on the competition assessment of information, reconsidering the use of additional goals of competition law or adding new kinds of abuses to the list of already existing ones. It also proposes the increased use of the essential facilities doctrine in digital markets and offers alternative ways of dealing with digital platforms and their increased control of information, including data, such as making algorithms transparent.
