Preface
The present volume represents one of the outcomes of the project `European
Networking and Training for National Competition Enforcers' (ENTraNCE).
The project is organized by the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies
(RSCAS) of the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence (Italy).
ENTraNCE organizes training, research and policy debates in the field of
competition law and economics. More than 300 national judges from 24 EU
Member States have attended this training programme since 2011. The pro-
gramme includes residential training in Florence as well as online activities.
Each year the training focuses on a different aspect of competition law enforce-
ment that is relevant to the national judiciary. The training is cofinanced by DG
Competition of the European Commission.
The present volume represents the final outcome of the seventh edition
of ENTraNCE for Judges. ENTraNCE for Judges 2017 focused on the role
of national courts in State aid enforcement. The present volume includes
contributions from the speakers who intervened in the context of the resi-
dential training of ENTraNCE for Judges 2017 in Florence. In addition, the
three editors of the book have actively been involved in the organization of
ENTraNCE Judges since its first edition: Professor Parcu is the Director of
the programme; Professor Monti acts as Scientific Coordinator; Dr Botta deals
with the organization of the residential and online activities of the training
programme.
