As the ILB goes to print, the Native Title Amendment Bill (Cth) 1997 is being debated in the Senate. Along with the rest of Australia, we wait to see how Senator Harradine will cast his vote. Keep your eye on the ILB for further analysis of developments.

Terra Nullius Explored

The next volume of the journal Law/Text/Culture, edited by Colin Perrin, at UNSW Law School, will be a special issue entitled 'In the Wake of Terra Nullius'. It will include pieces by both Australian and international authors, presenting multi-disciplinary perspectives on native title, recogntion of indigenous people's rights, and reconciliation. Law and History Conference

The Australian and New Zealand Law and History Society is organising an international conference, called Empires/Colonies/Legal Cultures, in collaboration with the Canadian Law and History Association. The conference will be multidisciplinary, focussing on the themes of imperialism, colonialism, and the migration of legal cultures.

Offers of papers are invited on these or other themes relevant to the primary concerns of the Society.
