Australian sites and developments

  • Australian Law on the Internet from the National Library of Australia. A well organised directory of Australian legal sites.
  • Australian Newspapers on the Internet a listing from the National Library of Australia
  • Gilbert & Tobin An Australian law firm publishing quick quides to technology and intellectual property issues in Australian Law.
  • Indian Ocean Rim Region: Prototype Virtual Library Project, a joint project from Edith Cowen University Library and Murdoch University Library funded by National Priority (Reserve) Fund.
  • Parliament of Australia Bills introduced since 30 April 1996. This page lists legislation introduced into the Parliament since 30 April 1996. For each bill a link is provided to the Second Readi ng speech, where the Minister responsible for the proposed legislation explains the purpose and general principles and effect of the bill. Links are also provided to Bills Digests produced by the Parliamentary Research Service.
    Unless otherwise indicated, each bill was introduced by the government.

Primary Legal Materials- Case law and statutes

The Times Newspapers Ltd (UK) Internet Edition including the Law Reports from 1996+.

Instructions and guide to find law reports. If you know the parties and date of the case, if you are searching for principles or concepts, or you want to look at todays reports of the cases:

1. Make sure auto load images is on.
2. Register and then make a bookmark

To find decision where the parties and dates are known -from the bookmark
3. Select "Interactive Times" and then select "Back Issues"
4. Make selections from the dates offered. Select "Britain" from the first page.
5. Scroll through the pink "Britain" page until you get to the LAW REPORTS, near the bottom of the first page. Select your case.

To find decision where the parties, concepts and/or principles are known but not the date - from the bookmark
6. Select "Internet Archive" . Modify the date options if necessary, select "Times: Law Report" and type in your terms or parties names in the box next to For.
7. Click on the box "Build your archive"
To read todays Times Law Reports - from the bookmark
8. Select "The Times". Select "Britain" from the first page.
9. Scroll through the pink "Britain" page until you get to the LAW REPORTS, near the bottom of the first page. Select your case.
