Crimes Amendment Bill 2014

A Bill for

An Act to amend the Crimes Act 1900









The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

1 Name of Act

This Act is the Crimes Amendment Act 2014

.

2 Commencement

This Act is taken to have commenced on the day the bill for this Act was presented to the Legislative Assembly.

3 Legislation amended

This Act amends the Crimes Act 1900

.

4 Nature of Supreme Court proceedings

Note The Crimes Amendment Act 2014 repealed s 431 (Nature of Supreme Court proceedings).

620 Effect of amendment on earlier reports under div 20.4

(1) This section applies to a report of a board of inquiry appointed under division 20.3 (Inquiry procedure) that, before the commencement of this part, the Full Court had considered, or was considering, under section 430 (1) (Action on report by Supreme Court) whether or not the Full Court had made an order under section 430 (2).

(2) The amendment of division 20.4 (Supreme Court orders following inquiry report) made by the Crimes Amendment Act 2014 is taken to have always had effect in relation to the consideration of the report.

621 Expiry—pt 32

This part expires on the day it commences.

Note Transitional provisions are kept in the Act for a limited time. A transitional provision is repealed on its expiry but continues to have effect after its repeal (see Legislation Act

, s 88).
