Holidays Amendment Bill 2014

A Bill for

An Act to amend the Holidays Act 1958

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

1 Name of Act

This Act is the Holidays Amendment Act 2014

2 Commencement

This Act commences on the day after its notification day.

Note The naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act

, s 75 (1)).

3 Legislation amended

This Act amends the Holidays Act 1958

4 Public holidays

Section 3 (1) (a) (i)

substitute

(i) 1 January (New Year’s day), and, if that day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday;

5 Section 3 (1) (a) (xi) and (xii)

substitute

(xi) 25 December (Christmas Day) and—

(A) if that day falls on a Saturday—the following Monday; or

(B) if that day falls on a Sunday—the following Tuesday;

(xii) 26 December (Boxing Day) and—

(A) if that day falls on a Saturday—the following Monday; or

(B) if that day falls on a Sunday—the following Tuesday; and
