CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE ACT 2008 - SECT 13

In this Act:

"family member", of a child or young person—

        (a)     means the child's or young person's—

              (i)     parent, grandparent or step-parent; or

              (ii)     son, daughter, stepson or stepdaughter; or

              (iii)     sibling; or

              (iv)     uncle or aunt; or

              (v)     nephew, niece or cousin; and

        (b)     for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander child or young person—includes a person who has responsibility for the child or young person in accordance with the traditions and customs of the child's or young person's Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
