CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE ACT 2008 - SECT 153

Inspections by judicial officers and Assembly members

    (1)     This section applies to each of the following:

        (a)     a judge;

        (b)     a magistrate;

        (c)     a member of the Legislative Assembly.

Note 1     The custodial inspector may also enter and inspect a detention place (see  Custodial Inspector Act 2017

, s 19).

Note 2     Official visitors must visit detention places (see pt 2.3 and Official Visitor Act 2012

).

    (2)     A person mentioned in subsection (1) may, at any reasonable time, enter and inspect—

        (a)     a detention place; or

        (b)     a place outside a detention place where a detainee is, or has been, directed to work or participate in an activity.
