Australian Capital Territory Current Acts Australian Capital Territory Current Acts(1) A keeper or owner of a dog or cat commits an offence if—
(a) an authorised person asks the keeper or owner to show a permit for the dog or cat; and
(b) the keeper or owner fails to show the permit to the authorised person within 24 hours after being asked.
Maximum penalty: 5 penalty units.
(2) An offence against this section is a strict liability offence.
(3) A person is not required to comply with a requirement under this section if, when asked by the person, the authorised person does not produce the authorised person's identity card.
