LEGISLATION ACT 2001 - SECT 132

Examples

    (1)     An example in an Act or statutory instrument—

        (a)     is not exhaustive; and

        (b)     may extend, but does not limit, the meaning of the Act or instrument, or the particular provision to which it relates.

    (2)     An example may take either of the following forms:

        (a)     a statement at the end of the provision it illustrates (or at the end of a provision containing the provision it illustrates);

        (b)     a statement forming part of the text of a provision that illustrates the operation of the provision, whether or not the words ‘for example' are used.

    (3)     Subsection (2) does not limit the form that an example may take.

    (4)     This section is a determinative provision.
