LEGISLATION ACT 2001 - SECT 205

This division applies if a law authorises or requires an entity (the "appointer") to appoint a person—

        (a)     to a position under a law; or

        (b)     to exercise a function or do anything else under a law.

Note     Function is defined in the dictionary, pt 1 to include authority, duty and power.
