(1) The legislative instruments registered in each year must be numbered by the parliamentary counsel as nearly as practicable in the order in which they are notified.
(2) However, the parliamentary counsel may—
(a) allocate different kinds of legislative instruments to different series for numbering purposes; or
(b) add distinguishing letters to numbers to indicate the kind of legislative instrument.
(3) Also, a regulation may provide that this section does not apply to a notifiable instrument of a kind prescribed by regulation.
