Australian Capital Territory Current Acts Australian Capital Territory Current Acts(1) This section applies if a relevant person is convicted, or found guilty, of a drug offence.
(2) The convicting court may direct that the relevant person must not, during a stated period, deal with a controlled medicine or prohibited substance (or both) in the ways stated in the direction.
(3) However, the court must not give the direction unless satisfied that giving the direction is in the interests of the person or the public.
(4) The Magistrates Court Act 1930
, section 208 (which is about appeals in criminal matters) applies in relation to the direction as if the direction were a penalty imposed by the court in relation to the conviction of a person of an offence.
