(1) A person responsible for having the birth of a child registered shall not fail, without reasonable cause, to ensure that a birth registration statement acceptable to the Registrar-General is lodged with the Registrar-General within 60 days after the date of the birth.
Penalty: 5 penalty units.
(2) The Registrar-General shall not refuse to accept a birth registration statement solely on the ground that it is lodged after the end of the 60-day period.
