Australian Capital Territory Numbered Acts Australian Capital Territory Numbered Acts(1) The chief executive may, orally or in writing, give a direction to a visitor at a correctional centre to do, or not do, something if the chief executive believes, on reasonable grounds, that the direction is necessary and reasonable—
(a) to ensure compliance with the visiting conditions; or
(b) for security or good order at a correctional centre.
(2) A person commits an offence if the person fails to comply with a direction given to the person under this section.
Maximum penalty: 50 penalty units, imprisonment for 6 months or both.
(3) An offence against this section is a strict liability offence.
(4) Subsection (2) does not apply if the person takes reasonable steps to comply with the direction.
