(1) Subject to subsection (2), a licence, unless sooner surrendered or revoked, remains in force for the period of 2 years commencing on the date of grant of the licence but may be renewed in accordance with section 49.
(2) A restricted weapons licence, unless sooner surrendered or revoked, remains in force until the period specified in the licence, being a period not exceeding 2 years, expires.
