PUBLIC HEALTH (MEAT) REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) (NO. 7 OF 1993) - REG 3

3. Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations is amended—

    (a)     by inserting “sausage meat, sausages,” after “minced meat,” in the definition of “Meat”;

    (b)     by omitting “or minced meat” from the definition of “Unwholesome meat” and substituting “, minced meat, sausage meat or sausages”;

    (c)     by omitting the definition of “Minced meat” and substituting the following definition:

“ ‘Minced meat' means meat flesh which has been minced, chopped or comminuted, but which does not include any added substance;”; and

    (d)     by inserting the following definitions:

“ ‘Meat flesh' means the skeletal muscle of an animal used for human consumption, including—

        (a)     any accompanying fat; and

        (b)     the sinew, nerve and blood vessels that ordinarily accompany the muscle tissue;

    but not muscle from around the head of the animal;

‘Sausage' means sausage meat enclosed in a casing or formed by other means into a cylindrical or other like shape;

‘Sausage meat' means meat flesh which has been minced or comminuted and may be mixed with a meal or flour derived from cereals, breadcrumbs, potatoes, soya beans or edible starch (with or without gluten);”.
