BUILDING REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) 1988


EXPLANATORY STATEMENT


No. 25 of 1988

Section 5 of the Building Ordinance 1972 defines “building work” and “specialist building work”. “Specialist building work” means any prescribed building work. An endorsement on a licence is necessary for a person to carry out specialist building work.

This regulation prescribes the installation, modification and removal of mechanical ventilation systems and building work that involves the handling of asbestos or the disturbance of loose asbestos as specialist building work for the purposes of the Ordinance.

The amendment also removes redundant words from regulation 15 (f) following earlier amendments to the Ordinance.
