MEAT REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) (NO. 11 OF 1988)

AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY

MEAT REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

No. 11 of 1988

The Meat Regulations (Amendment) up-dates references in the Meat Regulations to “General Manager” by substituting them with “Service”. Service is defined in the Meat Ordinance 1931 as the Australian Capital Territory Community and Health Service (the Service).

The Service is the new name of the A.C.T. Health Authority which had its functions expanded and name changed following the commencement of the Community and Health Service (Amendment) Ordinance 1988 on 2 July 1988.

The Meat Regulations (Amendment) is part of a general exercise to up-date legislation which previously referred to the General Manager or A.C.T. Health Authority. References to General Manager in regulation 4, subregulations 5(1), (3) and (7), 6(1), (2) and (4) and 7(1) and regulation 8 have been changed to Service because the powers of the Service reside with the statutory corporation and the General Manager constitutes the Service under subsection 9(1) of the Community and Health Service Ordinance 1985.
