OUTLINE


Division 3.1 of the Public Health Regulation 2000 establishes the ACT Cervical Cytology Register. Section 22 contains the definition of registrable information in relation to the operation of the ACT Cervical Cytology Register.

The amendment to section 22 is being put forward as part of a national program to improve the availability and accuracy of data regarding the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Division 6.3 of the Public Health Regulation 2000 regulates the installation of septic tanks and toilets not connected to the ACT sewerage system.

The amendments to sections 70 and 73 respectively require that a person must get approval for the installation or alteration of an effluent disposal system and toilet, as well as the septic tank.

NOTES ON SECTIONS


Section 1 – Name of regulation - provides that the regulation is the Public Health Amendment Regulation 2006 (No 1).

Section 2 – Commencement - provides that the regulation commences the day after it is notified on the ACT Legislation Register.

Section 3 – Legislation amended - states that the Public Health Regulation 2000 is amended.

Section 4 – Section 22, definition of registrable information, new paragraph (ba)-inserts the wordswhether she is Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander” in to the definition of registrable information in section 22 of the Public Health Regulation 2000.

Section 5 – Section 70 (1), (2) and (3) -replaces the words septic tank with words septic tank system.

Section 6 – Section 73 - replaces the words septic tank with words septic tank system.

Section 7 – Dictionary, new definition - defines the term septic tank system as well as adding this term to the Dictionary at the end of the Public Health Regulation 2000.
