The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Export Inspection (Service Charge)
5
Amendment Act 2014.

2 Commencement
7
(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table
8
commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with
9
column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect
10
according to its terms.

repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule

1 Section 4

Repeal the section, substitute:

4 Definitions

In this Act:

charge means charge imposed by this Act.
8
exportable goods means goods that are:
9
(a) prescribed goods (within the meaning of the Export Control
10
Act 1982); and
11
(b) prescribed in regulations made for the purposes of this
12
definition.

2 Subsection 6(1)
14
Repeal the subsection, substitute:
15
(1) Charge is imposed on the provision of an export inspection service
16
at an establishment that, at the time the service is provided, is
17
registered for operations associated with the preparation of
18
exportable goods.

3 Subsection 6(3)

Repeal the subsection, substitute:

(3) Charge is imposed on the provision of an external export
22
inspection service relating to exportable goods.

4 Subsection 7(2)

Omit "prescribed commodity", substitute "exportable goods".

5 Application of amendments
26
The amendments made by this Schedule apply in relation to export
27
inspection services provided on or after the first day of the first financial
28
year starting on or after the commencement of this Schedule.

6 Transitional
--initial regulations

(1)
This item applies to the Export Inspection (Service Charge)
2
Regulations 1985 (as in force immediately before the commencement of

this item).

(2)
The regulations (to the extent that they specify or refer to commodities)
5
have effect, after the commencement of this item, as if:
6
(a) any of those commodities that is not a prescribed good
7
(within the meaning of the Export Control Act 1982) were
8
disregarded; and
9
(b) the remaining commodities were goods prescribed for the
10
purposes of the definition of exportable goods in section 4 of
11
the Export Inspection (Service Charge) Act 1985 as amended
12
by this Act.
