The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title
4
This Act may be cited as the Export Inspection (Establishment
5
Registration Charges) Amendment Act 2014.

2 Commencement
7
(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table
8
commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with
9
column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect
10
according to its terms.

Repeal the section, substitute:

4 Definitions

In this Act:

charge means charge imposed by this Act.
9
exportable goods means goods that are:
10
(a) prescribed goods (within the meaning of the Export Control
11
Act 1982); and
12
(b) prescribed in regulations made for the purposes of this
13
definition.

2 Subsection 6(1)

Repeal the subsection, substitute:
16
(1) Charges are imposed, in accordance with the regulations, in
17
relation to the registration of an establishment for operations
18
associated with the preparation of exportable goods.

3 Application of amendments
20
The amendments made by this Schedule apply in relation to
21
registrations (including renewals of registrations) made on or after the
22
first day of the first financial year starting on or after the
23
commencement of this Schedule.

4 Transitional
--initial regulations

(1)
This item applies to the Export Inspection (Establishment Registration
26
Charges) Regulations 1985 (as in force immediately before the
27
commencement of this item).

The regulations (to the extent that they specify or refer to commodities)

have effect, after the commencement of this item, as if:
2
(a) any of those commodities that is not a prescribed good
3
(within the meaning of the Export Control Act 1982) were
4
disregarded; and
5
(b) the remaining commodities were goods prescribed for the
6
purposes of the definition of exportable goods in section 4 of
7
the Export Inspection (Establishment Registration Charges)
8
Act 1985 as amended by this Act.

(3)
The regulations (to the extent that they specify or refer to a charge for
10
the purposes of subsection 6(1) of the Export Inspection (Establishment
11
Registration Charges) Act 1985) have effect, after the commencement
12
of this item, as if the charge were specified or referred to for the
13
purposes of that subsection as amended by this Act.
