A Bill for an Act to amend the Flags Act 1953, and

for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Flags Amendment Act 2014.

2 Commencement

(1) Each provision of this Act specified in column 1 of the table
7
commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with
8
column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect
9
according to its terms.

A single day to be fixed by Proclamation.
However, if the provision(s) do not
commence within the period of 6 months

enacted. It will not be amended to deal with any later amendments of

Before "The Governor-General", insert "(1)".

Omit "flag or ensign referred to in, or appointed under, this Act",

substitute "designated flag".

3 At the end of section 7

Add:

(2) The Commonwealth must only fly, use or supply a designated flag
10
if the flag was manufactured in Australia from materials
11
manufactured in Australia.

(3) A designated flag is a flag or ensign referred to in, or appointed
13
under, this Act.
