A Bill for an Act to amend the Interstate Road
Transport Charge Act 1985, and for related purposes
The Parliament of Australia enacts:
This Act may be cited as the Interstate Road Transport Charge
Amendment Act 1998.
This
Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.
Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or
repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any
other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its
terms.
1 Subsection 5(1)
Omit “applicable to motor vehicles or trailers of that kind under the
Schedule”, substitute “applicable under subsection (1A) or (1B), as
the case may be”.
2 After subsection 5(1)
Insert:
(1A) If the registration is for 1 year, the amount of the charge is the
amount applicable to motor vehicles or trailers of that kind under the
Schedule.
(1B) If the registration is for less than 1 year, the amount of the charge
is the amount worked out using the formula:
where:
charge for 1 year means the amount that would be the charge
if the registration were for 1 year.
period of registration means the number of days in the period
of the registration.
