The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Live Animal Export (Slaughter)

Prohibition Act 2014.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on the day after this Act receives the Royal
9
Assent.

repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule

1 After section 7

Insert:

7AA Prohibition of the export of live-stock for slaughter

(1) In this section:

live-stock has the same meaning as in section 3 of the Australian
8
Meat and Live-stock Industry Act 1997.
9
live-stock for slaughter means live-stock that is intended to be
10
exported and slaughtered overseas.

(2) The regulations are taken to have declared that live-stock for
12
slaughter are prescribed goods.
13
(3) The regulations are taken to have prohibited absolutely the export
14
of live-stock for slaughter.
