The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title
4
This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Privileges Amendment
5
Act 2005.

2 Commencement
7
This Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal
8
Assent.

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or

repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule
3
concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect

according to its terms.

(3A) If:

(a) a person (the `witness') gives evidence against another

person in a court or tribunal; and
11
(b) the witness had previously made a statement in evidence
12
before a House or a committee; and
13
(c) that statement is not consistent with the evidence given by
14
the witness in the court or tribunal;
15
the other person may test the credibility of the witness by
16
questioning the witness with regard to that statement.".
