A Bill for an Act to repeal the Petroleum Retail Marketing Franchise Act 1980 and the Petroleum Retail Marketing Sites Act 1980, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Petroleum Retail Legislation Repeal Act 1998.

2 Commencement

(1) Subject to subsection (2), this Act commences on a day to be fixed by Proclamation.

(2) If this Act does not commence within the period of 6 months beginning on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent, it commences on the first day after the end of that period.

3 Schedule(s)

Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

4 Regulations making transitional or saving provisions

The Governor-General may make regulations making provisions of a transitional or saving nature in relation to the repeals made by Schedule 1.
